The townhouse was built in the 1830s and was converted to an industrial loft in the 1880s. The Gross family converted it back into a residential space in 1963. The bottom two floors of the townhouse make up the museum with the third floor remaining as it was when Chaim Gross and his wife, Renee, lived in the house.
